Our Community Impact
Hope for Health Foundation operates across five interconnected program areas, each designed to leave something lasting behind.
Mobile Health Outreach
Each year, our interprofessional clinical teams travel to communities in Abia State, Nigeria, delivering free care across four primary health centers during a 7-12-day mission window.
• Blood pressure and blood glucose screening
• Eye exams, glaucoma detection, and reading glasses distribution
• Dental care and oral hygiene
• Prostate (PSA) screening for adult men
• Sickle cell and thalassemia newborn screening
• Malaria diagnosis and treatment
• Diabetes management and counseling
• CPR training and return demonstration for community members
• Referrals to Federal Medical Center for complex cases
• Free medications dispensed by licensed pharmacists on-site
2,000+ patients served across missions in Abia State in 2024 and 2026 alone. 156 men screened for prostate cancer in 2026. 160 newborns screened for sickle cell in 2024. 4 communities per mission cycle.
Training for Healthcare Workers
Held annually at the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia, our education mission delivers clinical and professional development to student nurses, practicing nurses, and healthcare workers across Abia State.
• CPR — manual and mechanical — with hands-on return demonstration
• Abnormal ECG/EKG interpretation and clinical implications
• Chronic kidney disease management
• Hypertension and diabetes care protocols
• Mental health in Nigerian communities
• Nursing jurisprudence and legal accountability

• Soft skills for patient satisfaction
200+ nursing students and practicing nurses trained per annual education cycle. Programming delivered in partnership with Federal Medical Center, Umuahia and state nursing leadership.
Building Better Clinics
— so that the clinical care we provide has a permanent home in the community.
• Structural renovation of primary health centers
• Medical equipment procurement and donation (BP machines, IV poles, tracheostomy kits)
• Medication stockpiling and handover to local health administrators
• Formal handover to LGA health authorities
• Coordination with diaspora donor networks and sponsoring organizations
Multiple health centers renovated across Ikwuano and Umuahia North LGAs. Ward 3 Ndoro Health Center fully renovated and equipped. All 4 mission sites in 2026 operated from NANNNA-renovated facilities.
Engaging Our Diaspora
Our U.S.-based operations mobilize Nigerian-American communities and diaspora allies around health equity — through fundraising events, volunteer recruitment, and donor stewardship.
